Internationally acclaimed Iranian female director Ida Panahandeh has been honored in a ceremony in Iran.

Internationally noted Iranian female director Ida Panahandeh has been honored for her remarkable directorial output in a ceremony under the auspices of Farabi Cinema Foundation in Iran.

The ceremony was held Tuesday at Kiarostami auditorium located in the main building of Farabi Cinema Foundation

Dubbed “Familiar Land, Familiar Words”, the event paid homage to the Iranian director making ‘Nahid’ which grabbed both popular and international critical acclaim.

Since the director is from Khoy, a group representing Panahandeh's place of birth was present at the event, praising her as "one of the young and notable cultural figures" based in Khoy located in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province.

Aida Panahandeh’s ‘Nahid’ as Iran’s only representative was screened at the Un Certain Regard sidebar of the 68th Cannes International Film Festival, winning a prize for debut films.

In 2016, Hong Kong International Film Festival granted a nomination to Panahandeh for her directorial debut.

‘Nahid' chronicles efforts by a woman to maintain the custody of her child. It features Asghar Farhadi’s 'A Separation' actress Sareh Bayat.

The ceremony hosted several cultural officials and Iranian cinema personalities as well as media persons.

Farabi Cinema Foundation is a leading Iran-based company involved in production, international distribution and promotion of Iranian films.
